Practical training in commercial literacy

Commercial literacy is all about having a basic understanding of what makes up a successful business and building the confidence and language to engage with business people and specialists

The need for commercial literacy

CommLIT.online originated  from the Royal Society’s Entrepreneur in Residence (RS EiR) programme, where experienced entrepreneurs shared their commercial expertise with academics and students in universities.

A major issue emerged; a language, culture and knowledge gap between business professionals, investors and their advisers such as lawyers, accountants, patent agents,  with academics and students seeking to understand the principles of commercialisation.

CommLIT.online is the on-line resource, that addresses this issue of commercial literacy.  Through expert-led lessons the language of business and the different skills and disciplines of business are explained.  Enabling all with an interest in companies and commercialising technology to engage and understand each other’s perspective.
