The hierachy of the CommLIT.online material is BOX SETS > TOPICS > LESSONS. A BOX SET is all the material related to a single theme e.g. IP. Each TOPIC is made up of several LESSONS.
Although there are overlaps between the material each TOPIC has been written so that it is standalone and can be studied independently. No background or pre-reading is required, as each LESSON is intended to raise interest and prompt the participant to pursue further study as they see fit.
The format of each LESSON is not fixed, but typically is made up of a Powerpoint presentation with a voiceover, which lasts about 20 minutes.
These LESSONS are underpinned and complemented by a range of MINI-CASES. These are examples of the principles described in the LESSON illustrated by an actual event. Importantly these MINI-CASES are often explained by managers who actually took part in the described event.
These MINI-CASES often serve to illustrate a range of issues common to a range of material and so are cross-referenced back to the relevant LESSON or LESSONS.
